Iran vs Israel - Iran Activates Air Defenses Amid Suspected Israeli Strikes

Early on April 19, Iran fired its air defenses at a major air base and a nuclear facility near Isfahan after detecting drones, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. The action came after a reported drone and missile attack on Israel last Saturday, which has been followed by heightened military activities involving Israel and Iran in the region.

While no Iranian officials have confirmed an attack and Israel has not commented, reports from U.S. officials and major media outlets suggest that Israel may have been behind the strikes.

In related developments, Air India announced the suspension of its flights to and from Tel Aviv until April 30, citing the volatile situation. The airline currently operates four weekly flights between New Delhi and Tel Aviv.

Adding to the diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that Moscow has communicated to Israel that Iran is not seeking further escalation. This statement followed discussions involving Russian, Iranian, and Israeli officials.
